Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the newly established GOLDBOD Sammy Gyamfi has started doling out dollars to flashy ladies in town, four months after grabbing the highly lucrative job in government.
One of the beneficiaries of his indecent opulence is Patricia Oduro Asiedu aka Nana Agradaa, Founder of Heavenway Champion International Ministries.
The National Communications Officer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been captioned in viral video in which over $2,000 was presented to the controversial lady pastor and TV personality in the full glare of the public.
This open display of extravagance, THE CUSTODIAN has learnt, has raised serious concerns and gnashing of teeth within the governing NDC, especially among the grassroots supporters who are not in government and are patiently waiting for little support after bringing the party to government.
“When the party goes to opposition, their friends would return the favor. It’s been like this. Don’t let your footsoldiers look like fools. Some have been complaining you don’t even pick their calls and look at this,” NDC faithful and journalist, David Sitsope Tamakloe bemoaned on his Facebook Page.
Again, some NDC gurus are apparently worried that Sammy Gyamfi’s lavish show of grandeur and excessive wealth will have an image denting effect on government, particularly when President John Dramani Mahama recently launched a new Code of Ethics, ordering government appointees to “eschew opulence and be accountable for the use of public funds.”
Even though the doled out cash, is not proven to be public funds, the governing party kingpins are wondering how the young GOLDBOD CEO has suddenly amassed huge amounts dollars and ‘splashing’ them on flashy ladies in reckless abandon.
GOLDBOD, according to some government insiders, has already exported gold and some party faithful fear that Ghanaians will most likely believe the dollars being given to highly privileged ladies are the proceeds of the exports.
Ghana Gold Board Act (ACT 1140), 2025, was passed by Parliament on March 29, 2025 and assented to by the President on April 2, 2025.
It is currently the sole authority with exclusive right to buy, sell, weigh, grade, assay, value and export gold and other precious minerals in Ghana.
The GOLDBOD functions under the oversight and supervision of the Ministry of Finance.
It is not clear how President Mahama will react to Sammy Gyamfi’s blatant disregard for the fresh Code of Ethics for government appointees.
