The Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, Adwoa Wiafe has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the company towards youth empowerment in the country.
She acknowledged that the youth is the future of every nation, highlighting the need to build their capacities and provide them with the requisite tools to contribute significantly to national development.
Speaking in an interview at the 2026 Youth Empowerment Summit organized by the Martha Inspires Foundation held in Tamale, Madam Adwoa said aside it’s core business mandate, the company is also determined to improving the socioeconomic conditions of the society.
“For MTN, our purpose here is to do business but not only that, we’re also here to contribute positively to the society and a key part of that contribution is placed to young people; how can we ensure that we support them so that we’re able to bridge the unemployment gap by providing employable skills” she stated.
The Chief Corporate Services officer added the partnership with the Martha Inspires Foundation is therefore aimed at providing the platform for young people to engage positively and innovatively.
Meanwhile, the youth empowerment summit is an annual event organized to educate the youth in the best possible way to take charge of their lives in order to improve their access to resources and transform their consciousness through their beliefs, values, and attitudes.
This year’s summit was held on the theme: “Passing The Torch”.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Martha Anabila for her part described this year’s as impactful after 11 years since the initiative was introduced.
She said the theme: “Passing the torch” underscores the need for the present generation to transfer knowledge to the younger generation and build their capacities to be sustainable in life.
Ms Martha asserted that the program has been very instrumental in shaping the decision-making process of young ones in the past decade.
Through the intervention, she intimated school children have discovered their potentials over the years which enabled them to take decisions such as the type of professional careers to pursue at the tertiary level.
