An aspiring Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Asanteman COKA, has stated that his decision to contest the party’s regional chairmanship is driven by his determination to help Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia win the presidency in 2029.
Addressing party delegates during his hope tour campaign in the Ejisu Constituency, Asanteman COKA said the Ashanti Region must build a stronger party structure to secure victory in the next general election.
“Ashanti Region is the heartbeat or political base of NPP. It delivers the highest electoral votes to the party in any elections. If the region fails to get the votes, NPP loses.
“My mission, therefore, is to build structures in the region necessary to ensure that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, our flagbearer, becomes President in 2029,” he told the delegates.
He said if elected Ashanti Regional Chairman, he would focus on strengthening the party at the grassroots, improving unity and mobilising members to deliver a decisive electoral victory for the NPP.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah who has been a constituency chairman for many years, said he has done extensive research on why the party lost votes and many parliamentary seats to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), promising to work to reclaim the lost seats.
“The Party has some research work on why we lost 2024 elections. I have done some independent research on why we lost some 8 seats in the region to NDC, and l can assure you that l have a well thought out plan to win back the seats for NPP in 2028.”
He appealed to delegates in the Ejisu Constituency to vote for him in the regional executive elections scheduled for August 15, 2026, reminding them that he occupies number one on the ballot paper.
The Ashanti Region, regarded as the electoral stronghold of the NPP, is expected to play a pivotal role in the party’s efforts to reclaim power in the 2028 general election.
