The Northern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mohammed Abdul Salam, has called for unity in the following the successful conduct of its constituency executives election over the weekend.
He said the task ahead is clear: to consolidate the gains of the party, strengthen it’s structures and ensure resounding victory for the NDC in the 2028 general elections.
This, he added requires every hand on deck and admonished all NDC members to carry the spirit of brotherhood, sisterhood and shared purpose into every polling station, branch and constituency in the Northern Region.
In a statement to congratulate all newly elected officers on their victory in the just-ended branch/constituency elections dated Sunday, 25th October, 2026, Mohammed Abdul Salam noted this is a clear expression of the confidence party members have placed in them.
”We urge you to lead with utmost humility, and to serve as a unifying force for every member in your area.
To candidates who were not successful, we extend our heartfelt consolation and deep appreciation. Your decision to offer yourselves for service is an important contribution to the democratic tradition of our great party” he stated.
According to Salam, the outcome of an election does not diminish your worth or your place in the NDC family.
He indicated the party still needs the experience, energy and commitment of the individuals who have lost in the contest and advice that they remain active in its work.
”Now that the contest is over, we must quickly put our differences behind us. Competition was for a season; collaboration must now define our path forward. We call on all winners and losers, together with their supporters, to close ranks and build stronger bonds of unity. There are no factions in the NDC. There is only one family with one goal” he stressed.
The NDC Regional Secretary further commended the party members who supported every candidate – winning or losing.
”Your passion and peaceful participation made these elections a success and showed once again that the NDC remains a party of discipline and internal democracy.”
Meanwhile, the momentum has started building up in the Northern Region ahead of the Regional Executive polls slated for midway of November.
The various contestants numbering over 50 of them are expected to intensify their campaign now that the constituency elections are over.
