The 007 Youth Group affiliated to the opposition National Democratic Congress in the northern region has urged the yet to be approved Metropolitan Chief Executive for Tamale, Mr. Sule Salifu, to as a matter of urgency when affirmed by members of the assembly, take steps to fight the increasing indiscipline and lawlessness among a section of the youth in the metropolis.
Chairman of the group, Chief Abdallah Inusah specifically mentioned the Tamale Aboabo market where he said has become the hub for teenagers to engage in all manner of unacceptable behavior and carry out illegal businesses daily at night.
He noted the situation require an urgent intervention from the city authorities, stating failure to handle the rampant misconduct of the youth would jeopardize the future generation.
“Our major worry is the Aboabo market, this is not about NPP, NDC – parents have sleepless nights because of the situation in the market. We’re appealing to the Mayor to ensure no one is seen in the market at night to restore law and order.
“After the traders close for the day, those individuals sell tramadol, wee and other hard drugs in the market at night and such things cannot be tolerated in our society and as Chairman of the Metropolitan Security Council, we want him to collaborate the opinion leaders and Chiefs to curb the menace. The children are future leaders but we don’t prevent them from engaging in such acts they will end up becoming a recipe for disaster to the society” Chief Abdallah Inusah posited.
The Youth leader said this in an exclusive interview with THE CUSTODIAN on Tuesday (21 September, 2021) after the group had met with the nominee to congratulate on his nomination by President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“We came to congratulate to strengthen the peace and unity of Tamale. We can attend to our party politics later but we are here today because of development and prosperity of the Tamale metropolis” he intimated.
