The National Investment Bank (NIB) PLC has donated bags of rice, sugar, and an undisclosed amount of money to support the Muslim community during their fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.
The donation, delivered by Dr. Doli-Wura Awushi Abdul-Malik Seidu Zakaria, Managing Director of NIB, coincided with the celebration of Ghana’s 68th Independence Day on March 6, which was held under the theme “Reflect, Review, and Reset.”
Following the presentation, Dr. Zakaria appealed to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, for prayers for the national investment bank, citing the internal challenges it was confronted with.
“Currently, we are in limbo. NIB is polarized beyond repair, and there is no teamwork,” he said, and expressed the need for collective prayers to help restore unity and strength within the institution.
He highlighted the imperative of blending expertise with spiritual guidance to confront these challenges and navigate a path toward recovery.
He stated that the institution established in 1963 needed to be protected for future generations, saying; “If we cannot add anything to its value, we should not take anything from it. NIB needs prayers, not just expertise, wisdom or resources.”
However, he expressed his commitment to develop and implement strategies to quickly tackle the issues confronting the bank to ensure seamless operations and a sustainable recovery pathway and utmost performance.
Dr. Zakaria emphasized the importance of seeking divine intervention for those who appear prosperous as they may have unseen struggles, noting that: “Often, people assume the rich do not need help, but that is not always the case.”
He expressed his pride and admiration for the National Chief Imam’s unwavering role in fostering national unity and ensuring peace and called for continuous prayers for his good health and longevity.
In response to the gesture, Sheikh Sharubutu expressed deep gratitude for the presentation and promised his unwavering and passionate spiritual support to the new leadership of the National Investment Bank PLC led by Dr. Zakaria as they work to reverse the declining fortunes of the bank.
He stated that “My doors are always open,” reaffirming his commitment to providing guidance and support whenever needed.
Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu, the Spokesperson to the National Chief Imam, congratulated Dr. Zakaria on his appointment to the Managing Director position of the bank and praised him and his team for the contribution.
He mentioned that the acknowledgment and respect shown to the Chief Imam’s office would be remembered and that prayers would be made to guarantee that the new leadership fulfilled its goals for the NIB.
