New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman hopeful Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko has welcomed delegates arriving in Kumasi for the party’s National Annual Delegates Conference and National Executives Elections.
In a message to delegates, Mr Agyarko extended an “Akwaaba” to party members from across Ghana and the diaspora, describing them as the “lifeblood, the strength, and the unshakeable foundation” of the NPP.
“Fellow Patriots, Gallant Kukrudites, and Distinguished Delegates of the Great New Patriotic Party. On behalf of my campaign and the countless grassroots party faithful across the country, I extend a heartfelt Akwaaba to each one of you as you arrive in Kumasi for our historic National Annual Delegates Conference and National Executives Elections,” he said.
He said delegates had travelled from various parts of the country and the diaspora out of what he described as “deep love, personal sacrifice, and unyielding loyalty to the elephant family.”
According to Mr Agyarko, the theme of the conference, “One Party, One Purpose: United for Victory,” provides an opportunity for the NPP to “reset, rebuild, and position” itself for the 2028 elections.
A leadership of purpose
Mr Agyarko outlined what he called his four-pillar leadership agenda under the acronym R.I.S.E.
The first pillar, Reconciliation and Genuine Unity, focuses on healing internal divisions, addressing factionalism and restoring mutual respect within the party.
The second, Integrity of the Constitution and Discipline, seeks to promote adherence to the party’s rules and ensure what he described as justice, transparency and fairness across all structures.
Under Support for the Grassroots, Mr Agyarko pledged to introduce year-round welfare packages, structured capacity building and direct logistical support for polling station and constituency executives.
The final pillar, Election Readiness for 2028, centres on developing what he described as a modern election and ballot-security system from the polling-station level.
He said the objective would be to help the NPP secure “a decisive presidential victory for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and a parliamentary majority.”
“Tested in service, loyal in every season”
Mr Agyarko also highlighted his previous service to the NPP and the country, including his tenure as Minister for Energy.
“I do not ask for your trust on promises alone. I have served this party and this nation, including as Minister for Energy,” he said.
He added that he had contested within the party, accepted its decisions and remained committed to the NPP in both government and opposition.
“I have stood with the NPP in victory and in opposition, because the party has always been bigger than any one of us. That is the unity I will bring to the Chairman’s office,” he stated.
Call for peaceful elections
The NPP chairman hopeful urged delegates to conduct themselves peacefully and with mutual respect throughout the conference.
“As we engage in this democratic exercise, let us conduct ourselves with the dignity, peace, and mutual respect befitting the proud heirs of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition,” he said.
He also urged delegates to support one another and ensure that the party emerges from the conference stronger and united.
Mr Agyarko concluded by urging delegates to consider character, courage and service when casting their ballots.
“When you step into the voting booth, vote for character. Vote for tested courage. Vote for a Chairman who will serve you, respect you, and fight for your dignity,” he said.
He is contesting for the position of NPP National Chairman and urged delegates to vote for Number 4 on the ballot paper.
“Together, We R.I.S.E. The NPP Must Rise Again!” he added.
