Three parliamentary aspirants of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region have been disqualified by the National Parliamentary Vetting Committee of the party.

The affected aspirants are Mahama Osman and Hardi Adams contesting the incumbent Member of Parliament for Gushegu and Emmanuel Kotin vying for the Saboba constituency.

According to the committee, these individuals were disqualified on various legitimate grounds but further details were not provided.

In a circular signed by the Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP, the committee’s recommendation means the MP for Gushegu, Dr Ziblim Iddi who is seeking his second term in parliament will go unopposed in the April 25 parliamentary primaries of the party.

However, Alhaji Sibdow Alhassan Yakubu confirmed to THE CUSTODIAN that, the two female candidates, Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakaria of Yendi and Hajia Sayibu Amama and other seventeen male candidates have been recommended to contest the upcoming elections in nine constituencies in the region.

Alhaji Sibdow said the three affected aspirants are allowed to seek redress at the National Parliamentary Appeals Committee if they are dissatisfied with the recommendations of the National Parliamentary Vetting Committee.

The NPP will hold the parliamentary primaries in Bimbila, Savelugu, Tolon, Nanton, Wulensi, Kpandai, Saboba, Gushegu and Yendi constituencies.

Defense Minister and MP for Bimbila, Dominic Nitiwul; Savelugu MP, Alhaji Abdul Samed Gunu; Majority Chief Whip and MP for Kpandai, Mathew Nyindam and now Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture and MP for Gushegu are all going unopposed in their bid to represent the party in parliament.

Meanwhile, the party’s bigwigs such as Alhaji Habib Iddrisu of the Free Zones Board, Alhaji Kamaldeen Abdulai, deputy National Communications Director of the NPP, Farouk Aliu Mahama, Baba Daney, Alhaji Jagbo Baako according to the NPP Chief Scribe, have all been cleared to participate in the elections at their various constituencies
