The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected a formidable team of national executives to lead the party into the 2028 general election battle.
The newly elected executives led by the National Chairman, Mr. John Boadu also known as JB, have promised to work together with the losing contestants to wrestle power from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“JB and his executives are back again. Victory is assured in the year 2028,” Mr. John Boadu promised NPP faithful.
More than 7,000 delegates gathered at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026, for the party’s National Delegates Conference to fill nine national positions.

John Boadu, a former General Secretary emerged as National Chairman after polling 2,888 votes to beat former Energy Minister Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko who polled 2,408 votes.
Former National Chairman Paul Afoko had 790 votes while Sammy Crabbe who earlier step down to support John Boadu, had 41 votes.

For General Secretary, incumbent Justin Frimpong Kodua was re-elected with a decisive 4,486 votes against Sylvester Tetteh who had 1,340, Eugene Boakye Antwi 162 and Dr Charles Dwamena 129 votes.
Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover won the National Organiser position on his second attempt with 2,964 votes, beating Ali Maiga Halidu who had 2,231 votes.

Former Awutu Senya East MP Mavis Hawa Koomson was elected National Women’s Organiser with 783 votes, defeating Hajia Safia Mohammed who polled 429 votes.
Abanga Fuseini Yakubu won the National Youth Organiser slot with 1,550 votes, ahead of Clement Opoku Gyamfi with 631 votes.

John Boadu calls for unity
The new NPP National Chairman John Boadu underscored the importance of unity within the party following a competitive national leadership contest.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Boadu invited all contestants to work together, insisting that the party must move beyond the contest and focus on a common purpose.
“To those who contested with us, I extend my hand of friendship and partnership,” he said.

Mr. John Boadu added that the ideas, experience, networks and commitments of all the contestants remained important to the party.
“There must be no winners and losers. Only one NPP united around one purpose,” he stated.
Mr John Boadu said his administration would focus on building a renewed party that listens more, consults more and organises better.

“Our task is to build a renewed NPP, one that listens more, consults more, organises better, and prepares more deliberately for the future,” he said.
The national chairman pledged to work closely with regional and constituency executives, Members of Parliament, patrons, external branch members and other organised groups within the party.
Mr John Boadu also promised to deepen the party’s engagement with voluntary groups, TESCON members, social media practitioners, and the traditional media.
“A modern political organisation must engage every means of communication responsibly,” he said.

Mr. John Boadu further placed young people and tertiary institutions at the centre of his plans, saying the youth must feel that the NPP is their home.
He said the party would also work with its flagbearer and national leadership to strengthen its organisational and financial foundation, particularly at the constituency level.
Mr. John Boadu stressed that electoral success could not be taken for granted.

“But political victory is never an entitlement. It must be end through service, organization, credibility, and the trust of the Ghanaian people,” he said.
The national chairman said preparations must begin immediately, with the party rebuilding from the grassroots, strengthening constituency structures, empowering young people and supporting women.
He also called for greater use of technology while maintaining the relationships that have traditionally sustained the party.

“So I make this commitment: we will serve the New Patriotic Party with humility, lead through consultation, work with every part of our party, and dedicate this mandate to restoring the winning machinery of our great party,” he said.

Mr. John Boadu urged members to “choose unity over division, service over personal ambition, organisation over disorder, and hope over despair.”
