The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will begin the next stage of preparations for its 2026 National Officers Elections with balloting for positions on the ballot paper on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
The balloting will take place at the NPP Headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra, following the successful completion of the vetting of aspirants.
According to the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC), specific times for the balloting of the respective positions will be communicated directly to the aspirants. Candidates are expected to participate either in person or through duly authorised representatives.
The committee has urged all aspirants and their representatives to cooperate fully to ensure that the balloting process is conducted in an orderly and transparent manner.
The development follows the completion of the vetting exercise conducted between August 31 and September 3, 2026, by the National Officers Election Vetting Committee (NOEVC).
A total of 47 aspirants appeared before the Vetting Committee to contest nine National Officer positions. After examining their submitted documents, interacting with the aspirants and assessing the applicable eligibility requirements, the committee recommended all 47 for clearance.
The cleared aspirants are contesting positions including National Chairman, National Vice-Chairperson, General Secretary, National Treasurer, National Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Women’s Organiser, National Nasara (Zongo) Organiser and National Communications Director.
The National Vice-Chairperson position has the highest number of cleared aspirants with 13, followed by National Organiser with eight and National Youth Organiser with six.
The National Nasara (Zongo) Organiser position has five aspirants, while four candidates each have been cleared to contest the National Chairman, General Secretary and National Treasurer positions. Two aspirants are contesting the National Women’s Organiser position, while one candidate has been cleared for National Communications Director.
NOEC said it remains committed to conducting the remaining stages of the election process in a fair, transparent, orderly and credible manner.
The committee also called on aspirants, their supporters and party members to conduct themselves in ways that promote the unity and integrity of the NPP.
