The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has commended the decision to allow media coverage of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting.
The party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye described it as a laudable move.
However, the party emphasised that this should not become a norm and should remain at the discretion of the Electoral Commission (EC).
The NPP official pointed out that not all matters discussed by the Commission are contentious enough to warrant such a level of public scrutiny.
Mr Boakye made these remarks on Joy FM’s Top Story on Monday.
This discussion follows the EC’s decision to convene a meeting on Tuesday to address the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s demand for an audit of the voters’ register ahead of the December 7 election.
On that score, the NPP Organiser deemed the audit unnecessary adding the Commission’s framework is enough to cater for any errors that may have been identified.
“There must be some compelling, overwhelmingly compelling reason to call for such, and I do not see so in this particular matter,” he added.
