The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional Chairman, Mohammed Baantima Samba has said the party is ready and poised to conquer the northern region to break the eight-year governance cycle in Ghana.

Having recently concluded the NPP reorganization process, Chairman Samba described the NPP internal elections as peaceful and very successful.

Unlike the NPP, Chairman Baantima Samba said the of branch election of the opposition National Democratic Congress was not peaceful and further described it as the Afghanistan war.

“Look at our brothers in the NDC, it’s like the Afghanistan war, just polling station elections, they call it branch elections and it’s like the Afghanistan war and that’s not what as a party you use to win an election” he stressed.

Addressing Journalists on Saturday (July 30, 2022) in Tamale, Mr. Samba noted the grounds in the northern region is fertile for the NPP to break the 8 and assured that the executives of the party in the region is working hard with the constituency executives to win 14 parliamentary seats and form majority party in the region.

The New Patriotic Party held its maiden Regional Executive Committee which constitutes all Regional Executives, all NPP MPs in the region, MMDCEs, and Constituency Chairmen and Secretaries.

Chairman Baantima Samba said the meeting was held to discuss and fashion out strategies to organize the party from the grassroot and reenergize the base to start implementing measures to conduct a peaceful presidential and parliamentary election next year in order to win the 2024 general election.

“We gathered to contribute ideas and come together to work as a party so that at the end of the day we can break the 8 for the northern region and Ghana as a whole. That is the purpose for our meeting today” he added.

Party Unity

According to Chairman Baantima Samba, the NPP remains the most peaceful and united political party in Ghana. He also intimated the 2022 NPP Northern Regional Delegates Conference will go down in history as the most peaceful elections in the party.

“When we conducted the polling station elections, no one heckled the other, same as the electoral area coordinators elections, constituency executive under the leadership of Chairman Samba. But, per our party’s constitution, I couldn’t have conducted the regional elections and the National Council constituted a committee chaired by Hon Dr Mohammed Amin Anta and let me congratulate him and his team for conducting a very peaceful election” he asserted.
