The Presiding Judge of Tamale High Court, His Lordship Richard Mac Kogyapwah in handshake with GJA Chairman, Yakubu Abdul Majeed

The elected Executives of the Northern Regional Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) have been sworn into office.

The Supervisory Presiding Judge, His Lordship Richard Mac Kogyapwah, administered the Oath of Office at a short ceremony held at the Tamale High Court on Friday (July 8, 2022).

In a brief speech, the GJA Northern Regional Chairman, Mr. Yakubu Abdul Majeed, seized the opportunity to call for strong collaboration between the media and the judiciary service as partners for development in the region.

He also called for skills development of journalists so as to enable them report accurately which he noted will curtail the spread of rumors and misinformation.

Mr. Majeed assured the GJA will not renege on its mandate and responsibilities and would at all times uphold the integrity and reputation of the association.

“Secondly, I want to make a pledge that, under the tenure of our office, we want to work with you (court) as partners in development. Any issue that we have, we would never hesitate to approach you.”

His Lordship Richard Mac Kogyapwah, for his part, congratulated the executives for the milestone achievement in their career, urging them to live by the professional standards of practice.

“We are here, if you encounter any issue regarding legalities my doors are always open, I will always be receptive to your quest for advice more especially hinging on legalities. So I wish you the very best” he added.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yakubu Abdul Majeed is the new Chairman for Northern Region, Mr. Nelson Adanuti Nyadror, Tamale based Diamond FM as Vice Chairman, Mr. Albert Futukpor of GNA, Secretary and Miss Diana Ngon of Citi TV, Citi FM, as Treasurer
