The New Patriotic Party Chairman for the Mion constituency in the Northern Region, Sulaiman Abubakar, has resigned with immediate effect.
In a statement announcing his decision on Saturday, August 8, 2026, Mr. Abubakar said the decision was personal.
”Please, kindly accept this letter as my formal resignation as the New Patriotic Party Mion Constituency Chairman effective today, 08th August, 2026″ he wrote in the letter addressed to the Regional Chairman.
He further thanked the party’s Council of Elders, Patrons, Polling station and electoral area executives and the entire membership and supporters in the constituency for the confidence reposed in him to serve as the Chairman.
The resignation of Mr. Sulaiman Abubakar comes barely a month after the party conducted it’s constituency elections last month.
