One person is feared dead in the Nanton district of the Northern Region in a renewed chieftaincy unrest in the area.
The deceased is identified as Ahmed Ibn Shatut, a farmer and professional carpenter believed to be in his mid 30s.
Sources closer to the family said the deceased returned from the farm where he went to harvest firewood.
The source alleged that some individuals connected to the Paramount chief of Nanton, Naa Mahamadu Bawa V, indiscriminately fired gunshots in the town without any confrontation.
The Custodian online has learned that some parents went to the Independence parade to pick up their wards when the chief arrived to grace the occasion as the special guest.
The source claim that some gunmen allegedly connected to the embattled traditional leader after leaving the parade grounds fired indiscriminate gunshots in the town killing the deceased.
Meanwhile, some security personnel including military have been deployed to the area to restore law and order.
