In a massive show of grassroots support and confidence, a coalition of over 50 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairmen, alongside leaders of various identifiable groups, yesterday picked up nomination forms for Mr. Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko to contest the position of National Chairman.
This crucial move marked a pivotal milestone in the party’s internal democratic process and serves as a formal affirmation of a mandate that began two years ago.
It would be recalled that during a Conference of NPP Constituency Chairpersons held in Kumasi in 2025, the party’s frontline leadership made a clarion call to Mr.. Agyarko, urging him to lead the party’s reorganisation efforts.
A statement issued by Mr. Agyarko’s campaign Chairman, Mr Henry Quartey said yesterday’s hallowed action at the NPP National Headquarters, serves as a strong affirmation of the unshakeable confidence the Chairpersons have in Boakye Agyarko.
The event, witnessed by a massive gathering of party activists, sympathisers, and the media, signals that the rank and file of the NPP view Boakye Agyarko as the primary architect for the party’s renewal ahead of the 2028 General Elections.
Speaking for the delegation after picking the forms, the spokesperson of the group, Mr. Stephen Kojo Arhin, NPP Chairman of Cape Coast North Constituency described the move as a strategic necessity for securing a victory for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 Presidential Election.
“The NPP needs more than just a party Chairman; we require a leader with the vision, discipline, and strategic depth to unify our ranks and rebuild the grassroots in support of our flagbearer. Hon. Boakye Agyarko is the most experienced strategist for this critical moment in our history,” he stated.
Mr. Agyarko expressed his profound gratitude to the Chairpersons for their kind gesture. He promised to do all he can in his power, when elected, to build a strong party that serves as a solid bridge for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to win the 2028 elections, and for NPP to win majority parliamentary seats.
