Mr Ziblim Issah was killed by alleged assailants

Police in the Northern Region has announced an amount of GH¢10,000 as reward for anybody or group who will volunteer information for the arrest assailants who allegedly murdered the official driver of the District Chief Executive for Karaga, Ziblim Issah, age 44. 

The Regional Police Commander, COP Timothy Bonga Yoosa made the announcement during a media briefing in Tamale yesterday.

He said investigations are underway to identify the suspects and establish the motive behind the robbery and murder of the deceased.  

“We need information from the public to help trace and arrest the perpetrators of this heinous crime. We appeal to the general public, particularly people in communities along the Tampion, YamoKaraga, Yapala to Karaga route and beyond to assist with information in our effort to arrest the suspects and prosecution”, he pleaded.

COP Bonga said police found the lifeless body of the deceased on the driver’s seat with bullet wounds on the head.

He indicated that a police search at the crime scene found four AAA32G empty cartridges on the ground.

THE CUSTODIAN has gathered that the deceased was sent to pick the official car of the DCE, a white Nissan Patrol SUV Vehicle with registration number GT 8459 – 19 from a workshop in Tamale.

However, the gunmen attacked the driver when he reached a section of the road at Yamokaraga, a village near the district capital some few minutes past 12midnight on 29 May, 2021.

According to COP Yoosa, the driver veered off the road during the confrontation in what appeared to be an attempt to avoid the attack head-on.

He explained that the assailants however got closer to the vehicle and shot the driver in the head at a close range.

THE CUSTODIAN understands the vehicle was ransacked and the driver’s mobile was taken away with some office correspondence and other documents of the District Chief Executive.
