President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in London for a high-level working visit focused on strengthening Ghana–United Kingdom economic relations, attracting foreign investment, and engaging the Ghanaian diaspora community.
He was received at the airport by Lord Katz MBE from the Royal Household, His Excellency Gordon Wetherell, Special Representative of the Secretary of State for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The visit includes a royal audience with King Charles III and a breakfast meeting with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, reflecting the longstanding diplomatic and economic partnership between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, May 31, 2026, by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, the trip is designed to position Ghana as a leading investment destination while strengthening ties with the Ghanaian diaspora.
As part of the itinerary, President Mahama will participate in a diaspora town hall meeting hosted by the Ghana High Commission in London on Sunday evening. On Monday morning, he is expected to officially open the Ghana–United Kingdom Investment Summit at Raffles, a key event aimed at attracting foreign direct investment and building partnerships between Ghanaian entrepreneurs and British investors.
He will also showcase Ghana’s growing role in global finance as a guest at the London Stock Exchange, where he will ring the ceremonial opening bell to mark the start of trading. In addition, he is scheduled to deliver a policy address at Chatham House and a keynote speech at the 12th Africa Debate at the Guildhall in London.
The visit highlights Ghana’s continued commitment to expanding international cooperation, promoting investment opportunities, and supporting long-term economic transformation. President Mahama is expected to conclude his engagements in London on June 3, 2026.
