The President of the United States of America (USA), Joe Biden

The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, intends to send a team of security officials to Taiwan. This is believed to be a measure to show to support to Taiwan as they are vulnerable to attack from China.

This news was first reported by Reuters and published across various major news platforms.

The delegation to visit Taiwan is made up of top former security officials who have served in various US administrations including under George Bush and Barack Obama.

As reported by Reuters, one of the officials said that, “The United States will maintain the capacity to resist any resort to force or other forms of coercion that would jeopardize the security or the social or economic system of the people of Taiwan”.

Reports have it that Beijing, the governing city of China, has claimed the ‘democratically’ governed island as its own and has vowed to bring it under Chinese control, by force if necessary,

Even though the officials did not mention that the current situation in Ukraine forced the USA to make this move, some officials are concerned about the ‘obligation’ the US is taking to defend Taiwan amid stepped up Chinese military pressure, but proponents of existing policy say this could worsen the risk of conflict.

More on these actions will be reported when the need arises.
