The Black Stars of Ghana who went pass the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the World Cup play-offs last month have been drawn in the same group with Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.
Ghana has a golden chance to revenge Uruguay for denying the black stars a semi-final qualification at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Uruguay beat Ghana on penalties after a 1:1 draw in 120 minutes of open play in South Africa. Liuz Suarez was shown a read card for handling a John Mensah header which had beaten the Uruguay goal keeper.
But Asamoah Gyan hit the cross bar from the penalty spot when he had the chance to send Ghana into the Semi Finals. Ghana went on to lose 4:2 on penalties
However, Ghana has a chance to revenge the defeat of 2010 against Uruguay in the second game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
During the Fifa World Cup draw this evening in Qatar, Ghana was picked to join Group H where it will play its first Game against Portugal. Worth noting is that, Ghana lost to Portugal in the last game of the 2014 FIFA World Cup by 2 goals to 1. Likewise, this could also be a revenge game against Portugal.
This is the first time Ghana will play South Korea in the FIFA World Cup, but the Black Stars last beat Korea Republic by 4 goals to nil in an international friendly in July, 2014.
