Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu Constituency, Ras Mubarak, has chastised the actions of the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Goldbod, Sammy Gyamfı, in a viral video showing him gifting self-celebrated Evangelist, Patricia Asiedua, widely referred to as Nana Agradaa an undisclosed amount of dollars.
The former lawmaker intimated that the actions of the outspoken Goldbod Chief Executive Officer has the tendency to undermine the value of the local currency and have dire implications for the country’s economy.
Ras Mubarak in a Facebook post on Sunday (May 10, 2025) sighted by The Custodian Online, noted that Sammy Gyamfi’s actions could be interpreted as a lack of confidence in the cedi, despite its recent appreciation.
“Sammy Gyamfi’s error of judgement could be perceived as a lack of confidence in the cedi. It contradicts government regulations. Such action could lead to negative impact on the cedi’s value or stability” he wrote.
He further urged government office holders to demonstrate confidence in the cedi and the economy, discouraging the practice of giving Forex.
Meanwhile, the former National Democratic Congress Legislator has called on the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to go after Nana Agrada to collect what he referred to as “Gift tax”.
“On Mama Pat ‘Agrada,’ she has to pay gift tax. It’s the law. The Ghana Revenue Authority must go after Agrada for the tax component on the gifting” he stated.
