Residents of the Nii-Boi town have appealed to the government to construct their roads to ease vehicular movement in the area.
According to them, the roads become very muddy and unmotorable whenever it rains.
Both commercial and private drivers also express their great frustration due to the poor state of the road with lots of potholes.
“The spare parts we use on our cars do not last, so we buy spare parts all the time and creating added costs for us”, according to driver Salisu Adams.
Another driver said it was not possible for two vehicles to bypass each other as one vehicle has to spark for the other to pass due to the bad nature of the roads.
The enraged residents said they could not sit down unconcerned while deep potholes and erosion take toll on them.
With no help in sight, some residents decided to take matters into their own hands by using pieces of cement blocks and sand to fill potholes in their neighbourhood.
“Since last year, the constructors came to fill up the potholes with sand there has not been any improvement,” Nana Ama lamented.
During the dry season, the residents battle the dust and whenever the rains set in, the story worsens.
A 29-years-old Sarah Quaye who is a pharmacist, says her major concern has to do with the dust.
She said she has to clean her shop several times and clean the medicine often so they don’t get contaminated with the dust.
Consequently, the residents in the area are making a passionate appeal to the government and media to help them address the problem of bad roads in Nii-Boi-Town.
