A businessman, Fataw Mohammed has been enstooled as the Sissala Chief in Sabon Zongo, a suburb of Accra.

He was installed with the stool name, Fataw Nemeeluki Mohammed I, at an impressive ceremony on Sunday amid drumming and dancing.

A piece of white calico was bound around the chief’s head to signify his installation and Muslim prayers were offered to seal the exercise.

Mohammed Abubakar Kuri and Ahamed Tijani Issaka Waadiweini were also installed as the Regent and youth chief respectively to assist Chief Nemeeluki Mohammed I in his work in championing the welfare and development of his people in the area.

The installation ceremony attracted Sissala chiefs from other communities including Mamprobi, Kotobabi, Russia and New Town amid a colourful cultural display of the Sissala people.

The event was also graced by Members of Parliament (MPs) for Sissala East and Sissala West, Amidu Chinnia Issahaku and Mohammed Adams Sukparu respectively in the Upper West Region.

In brief statements, the two MPs urged the newly installed Chief to help unite the people for development in the Sissala areas in the North.

“It is important that we unite our people in both the North and South for the development of the Sissala land.

“We have four constituencies in the Sissala area namely Sissala East, Sissala West, Lambussie and Wa East and all of us in these constituencies must work together with a common objective of improving the lives of the people”, MP for Sissala East and Deputy Minister Sanitation and Water Resources, Mr. Chinnia Issahaku urged.
