The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Hajia Mariam Iddrisu has sent felicitations to candidates sitting for this year West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the Sagnarigu municipality and Ghana as a whole.

The MCE visited the Tamale Senior High and Northern School of Business Senior High schools to monitor the beginning of the 2020 WASSCE examination in the municipality. Visual Arts candidates kicked off the WASSCE today with their practical projects.

A total of 14, 805 candidates are participating in the examination in the northern region.

The figure comprises 8, 531 boys and 6, 274 girls sitting for the exams in the region.

Additionally, at the North East and Savannah regions, a total of 3, 906 and 4, 407 candidates are writing the WASSCE test respectively.

Hajia Mariam in an interaction with the candidates urged them to be self disciplined and adhere to the COVID-19 safety measures. She encouraged them to wear their nose mask at all times to avoid contracting the virus amidst the month-long examination.

The MCE further advised the students against exams malpractice.

This is the first badge of the beneficiaries enjoying the implementation of the free Senior High School policy under the Akufo-Addo led NPP administration.

Meanwhile, a total of 375,737 candidates across the country are expected to participate in the month-long nationwide examination despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

This number consists of 187,574 males and 188,163 females.
