‎The Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, Hon. Atta Issah, has called for calm following the violent disturbances between some residents of Damankuniyili and Nyeshie in the Sagnarigu municipality.
‎
‎The two clashed on Tuesday, August 4, over a parcel of land which led to the death of one person and several others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
‎
‎In a statement dated  Tuesday, August 4, Atta Issah said, “I have received with deep shock and profound sadness the news of the violent clashes that occurred this afternoon between some residents of Damankuniyili and Nyeshee.”
‎
‎”The unfortunate incident has reportedly claimed the life of one person, left several others with serious injuries, and caused fear and anxiety within both communities” he added.
‎
‎The lawmaker intimated that Damankuniyili and Nyeshei are sister communities that share common history. culture, and destiny.
‎
‎He argued that it is therefore heartbreaking to witness such an unfortunate development between people who have lived together as one.
‎
‎The MP lamented that violence only brings pain, destruction, and setbacks to the development and progress of communities, stressing no disagreement is worth the loss of human life.
‎
‎”I therefore make a passionate appeal to all residents, especially the youth, to immediately cease all hostilities and embrace peace, dialogue, and mutual understanding” he appealed.
‎
‎He further urged the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, religious leaders, and all stakeholders in both communities to work tirelessly to calm tensions and promote reconciliation while allowing the appropriate state institutions to handle the matter.
‎
‎Meanwhile, the Sagnarigu Municipal Security Council on Tuesday imposed a 5:00pm to 7:00am curfew the two villages and it’s adjoining communities with immediate effect.
‎
‎There’s also a total ban on the carrying of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within the affected areal and an increased in joint Police patrols to enforce the curfew and maintain law and order.
‎
‎The National Democratic Congress lawmaker has in his statement commended the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), for their swift intervention in bringing the situation under control.
‎
‎The Custodian News GH Online has gathered that the dispute is over parcel of land which was sold out to a private developer but it’s reportedly meant for road construction.
