The Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu constituency in the Northern Region, Hon Atta Issah, on Friday (May 16, 2025) commissioned a three day classroom block at Wayamba to serve as the first-ever Junior High School in the community.
Hitherto, school children in the community travel long distance to other parts of the municipality and the Tamale metropolis to acquire Junior High education.
The 3-classroom block fully furnished with metal chairs is the first educational infrastructure completed by the Member of Parliament after his election on the ticket of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 7, 2024, general elections.
“This is just the beginning, many more transformative projects are on the way” the lawmaker wrote on his Facebook page.
Mr. Atta Issah in his remarks in his said, “I am deeply honored to have commissioned my first fully funded project as the Parliamentary Candidate and Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu at Wayamba.”
He highlighted this initiative marks a significant achievement, as it will establish the very first junior high school to serve Wayamba and its adjoining communities.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Sagnarigu MCE, Hon Abdulai Gong, constituency executives, esteemed chiefs, dedicated stakeholders, students, the Ghana Education Service (GES), and all our distinguished guests who joined us for this momentous occasion” he applauded.
THE Custodian Online has learned that the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the school and community elders made a passionate to the lawmaker for the establishment of the Junior High School block, highlighting the struggle of children in the area to access higher education.
This, therefore, necessitated the urgent need for the construction of the facility to ensure easy accessibility and further enhancing teaching and learning outcomes in the area.
The Member of Parliament underscored the importance of education to the growth and socioeconomic transformation of the Sagnarigu municipality and the nation as a whole.
