MTN Ghana over the weekend organized free medical screening for hundreds of residents in the Tamale Metropolis and it’s environs as part of activities to mark this year’s Savannah Fest initiative.
In collaboration with the Savanna Opticals and Eyecare, participants were given free eyecare screening, assessment of blood sugar level, blood pressure among other criticritical medical examination.
Prior to the screening exercise, the company also organized a mammoth health walk on the principal streets of the northern regional.
The Executive Director of Savanna Opticals and Eyecare, Dr. Daniel Opoku Gyamfi who led the exercise in a media interview said: “We’re taking care of their vision, the eye pressure and for those who need reading glasses, we’re helping them to get it and those who need medication as well”.
“We are also on the other side checking for blood sugar and their BP and other statistics to help everybody know whether they are healthy or not” he added.
Dr. Gyamfi further underscored the importance of people undergoing periodic medical screening, stressing every other thing is useless when one is not in good health.
“We need to be healthy to carry out any other life duties or activities thing” he emphasized.
He therefore commended the telecommunication giant for providing the avenue for people to access quality healthcare particularly individuals who are underprivileged in the society.
The Area Sales Manager of MTN Ghana for the Northern zone, Richard Asamane, for his part expressed satisfaction for the massive turnout, stating the two activities aimed to promote a healthy living among the people.
Mr. Asamane highlighted the significance of exercising the body to be fit, healthy and productive.
“We encourage people to exercise a lot to ensure that they’re keeping fit – a healthy mind leaves in a healthy body” he stated.
