The Member of Parliament for the Savelugu constituency in the Northern Region, Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, has admonished delegates in her constituency to vote massively for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 general election.
According to her, the former Vice President is the ideal candidate to wrest power from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the party.
She said that the presidential primary slated for Saturday, January 31, is not about individual desires, but it is a moment to choose an experienced candidate who can ultimately win power for the party.
Hajia Fatahiya made the admonishment during an engagement with delegates on Thursday, January 29, ahead of the Saturday polls.
The Savelugu lawmaker noted that the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections are very crucial, and the party must elect someone who can secure victory for the NPP to return to government.
“…When you’re going to elect someone to lead you into a crucial election like the one in 2028, you must have one thing in mind—who can win power for you—government power,” she emphasised.
In her remarks, Hajia Fatahiya also called for peace and unity in the party before, during, and after the election.
She believes the task ahead will be much easier for the presidential candidate when the party remains united and formidable.
In the Northern Region, a total of 12,206 delegates are expected to cast their ballots across the 18 constituencies out of the over 200,000 voters nationwide.
Meanwhile, the delegation of the Savelugu MP included the Member of Parliament for Tolon and Deputy Minority Whip, Habib Iddrisu, former MP for Savelugu, Alhaji Muhamed Abdul Samed Gunu, and Constituency Executives, among others.
