Raw water sources for the Sekyere Hemang Water Treatment Plant are seeing a significant improvement, with turbidity levels dropping to an average of 9,000 Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU), down from the previous high of 14,000 NTU.
This reduction has resulted in a substantial increase in water production, rising from over 1.9 million gallons per day to over 2.7 million gallons per day, according to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).
GWCL provided this update to the residents of Cape Coast, Elmina, and nearby communities, assuring them of ongoing efforts to improve water supply.
The improvement has been attributed to the work of the Central Regional Security Council, led by Regional Minister Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan.
In a statement, GWCL pledged to keep the public informed of any significant changes to the raw water quality that could affect the water supply.
They also expressed appreciation for the support from the Regional Security Council in addressing water challenges in the region.
The water company urged residents to use water wisely as they continue to make efforts to ensure a consistent and adequate water supply.
