For partially easing restrictions on social gatherings, paving way for Muslims to observe Friday prayers, a renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Iliyas Alhaji  Umar Imam commends government.

Reacting to the latest development in an interview, the marriage Counsellor described the leeway as a “Great work done for the sake of Islam and patriotism.”

Sheikh Iliyas entreated Muslims to strictly adhere to the directive of hosting worshippers with a maximum number of one hundred (100) congregants, with a mandatory one meter rule of social distancing between the congregants.

He reiterated that all should comply with the preventive protocols to stay healthy and happy.

The former Tutor of Tamale Senior High School (Tamasco) encouraged students to aspire to be responsible citizens.

In light of the evolving situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, some Muslims across Ghana on Friday June, 5, 2020 commenced Virtual Friday congregational prayers.

Islamic Counselling Centres needed

Climaxing the 2020 Ramadan Special Quranic live television series (Tafseer), Sheikh Iliyas advocated the establishment of more Islamic Counseling Centers in Ghana.

He bemoaned the influx of marriage breakdowns in particularly  Muslim communities, hence the need for  such installations.

“Social Distancing, the power of solitude in Islam, ” was the theme for this year’s Tafseer, which focused on marriage counseling, circular education and stability. 

Throughout the season, Sheikh Iliyas Umar entreated spouses to live   as partners for life. Stressing that peaceful homes nurture children to be responsible citizens.

He also emphasized the importance of circular education and thereby underscored  the need for parents to invest in their children’s schooling.

On the deadly COViD-19 global pandemic, he called for a comprehensive strategy to curtail the virus, which he remarked that  incessant prayers remained the solution.
