A group calling itself Concern Youth Groups of NPP in Tamale has accused the Northern Regional Chairman of the party, Mohammed Baantima Samba, of riding on the generosity of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to redeem his image.
According to the group, the apparatchiks of Chairman Samba will always run to social media to rain praises on him for donations initiated by the Vice President for Chiefs among other stakeholders in the region, adding that, beneficiaries of these donations are often left in a state of dilemma as to who is the real donor – Dr Mahamadu Bawumia or Chairman Samba.
“The most recent misrepresentation put out to the unsuspecting public to believing that Chairman Samba is the one who donated some food items, a bull, 20 bags of rice, 10 bags of maize and Ghc10, 000.00 towards the final funeral rites of Ndan Yaa Naa’s elder wife turns out to be a palpable lies and deceitfulness”
“Because first-hand information reaching beneficiaries will always mention Dr Mahamadu Bawumia as the donor, the subsequent misrepresentation, misinformation and deception will follow up at the time of presentation or immediately after presentation have been done to give credit to Chairman Samba” the group further alleged.
Addressing the media in Tamale, Tuesday (3 August, 2021) Assistant Secretary of the group, Yakubu Mohammed Nurudeen said the food items presented was the personal gesture of Dr Bawumia.
“There is no uncertainty surrounding the donor of the food items and GhS10, 000. The donation was from Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the Regional Minister did the presentation and Chairman Samba was only part of the delegation to the funeral and to present the donation to Ndan Yaa Naa, but right after the donation Chairman Samba’s apparatchiks put the opposite on social media”
The group finds the development as disrespectful to the Vice President and beneficiaries of these interventions and said this must stop.
“Let us take you back a little, during this year’s Ramadan, the Vice President on behalf of the government donated sugar to the Muslim Ummah to observe the fasting but once again the unrepentant Chairman Samba took credit for same and never mentioned Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia or the government in this gesture even though the source of the sugar was already known to its beneficiaries who include some Chiefs and Imams.
This negative attitude of the Northern Regional Chairman is unbecoming and must be condemned by all and sundry if we love NPP and the hardworking Vice President of Ghana” the group indicated.
