The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has launched the 2024 campaign team for the Tamale Central constituency ahead of this year’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections. The team is tasked with the responsibility to coordinate various campaign activities of the party ahead of the December 7 polls.
The NPP parliamentary candidate for the Tamale Central constituency, Hon Sule Salifu, in his remarks during the launch on Saturday, June 1, 2024, said the party’s ultimate target is to win the seat from the opposition National Democratic Congress and therefore charged the campaign team members to work assiduously for the party’s victory.
He said the NPP will prosecute a vigorous community-based campaign across all electoral areas in the constituency stating that all electoral area coordinators and their respective polling station executives would be lead the constituency campaign team members whenever they come to their areas.
“Any community we will visit, you the coordinator and your executives will decide what we will come there to do, where we will go and whatever we do, because we don’t want to introduce or import any strategy into any community and it will not inure to our best interest.
“You know the dynamics in your electoral areas and the strategies we should deploy in the communities. We also have to form campaign team in our communities so that collectively we would fight and win this battle for the NPP and not an individual” he added.
Mr. Salifu further commended the rank and file of the party for the prevailing peace and unity after the parliamentary primary, asserting there are acrimonies in other constituencies among the people and either the candidate is not in good terms with the constituency chairman or the other candidates that contested the elections.
The NPP Member of Parliament hopeful who is currently serving as the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tamale used the medium to highlight some achievements of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia led NPP administration through the Gulf of Guinea Northern Region Social Cohesion (SOCO) initiative and other developmental interventions.
The Northern Regional Chairman, Mohammed Baantima Samba, in an inaugural speech presented on his behalf by former Sagnarigu Municipal Chief Executive, Hajia Mariam Iddrisu said the journey ahead requires the involvement and dedication of every single party member.
Chairman indicated that differences in opinions and perspectives are natural within any large organisation, but now is the time to bury those differences and focus on our shared goal: victory in December and reiterated the need to close ranks and work as a cohesive unit.
“To our Polling Station Officers, you are the backbone of this campaign. Your unwavering commitment and grassroots connections are not just important, they are crucial. Engage with every voter, listen to their concerns, and assure them that the NPP remains the best choice for the future of Ghana” he admonished.
