The Member of Parliament for Gushegu constituency, Lawyer Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli, has presented a cash amount GH¢20,000 to support the final funeral rites of the late Mionlana Abdulai Mahamadu.
The lawmaker also donated a bull, 10 bags of maize, 20 bags of rice, 5 gallons of cooking oil, 5 boxes of Tomatoes and 300 boxes of bottled water to the funeral planning committee on Wednesday, May 28.
The presentation was done on behalf of the former Deputy Minister of Transport who holds a deep sense of respect for the late Paramount Chief.
The traditional funeral which started a week ago on Friday, May 23, ended on Friday, May 30, with an Islamic prayers for the late Naa Abdulai Mahamadu.
Hundreds of people from all walks of life travelled to Sambu, the traditional capital of the Mion district, to observe the traditional rites organized in line with the custom and traditions of Dagbon.
One of the significant activities earmarked in the performance of the funeral is Buni Wuhubu (Show of wealth) on Thursday, May 29.
There was circumambulation of the Chief palace led the Regent, Naa Alhassan Abdulai, the first son of the late Mion Lana Abdulai Mahamudu and the display of Musketry among other rituals.
The Minister for Education and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South led government delegation to the funeral.
Also, former President Nana Akufo-Addo and former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia among high profile dignitaries who graced the final funeral of the late Mionlana Abdulai Mahamadu.
