The Techiman Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Bono East Regional Office of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has undertaken a fumigation exercise at major public facilities in Techiman as part of efforts to prevent disease outbreaks and improve environmental sanitation.
The exercise covered the Techiman Central Market, slaughterhouse, public toilets and the dumping site at Fiaso.
Speaking to Classic FM News, the Bono East Regional Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mr Benedict Awuah, said the exercise was aimed at protecting residents from diseases and creating a cleaner and healthier environment.
He said the exercise targeted key public facilities and appealed to residents, market users and other stakeholders to cooperate with the authorities to ensure its success.
Mr Awuah further disclosed that the exercise would be extended to other municipalities and districts across the Bono East Region as part of efforts to strengthen public health and environmental sanitation.
The Techiman Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kwaku Adjei Mensah, commended Zoomlion and other stakeholders for supporting the initiative.
He said the exercise would help improve sanitation conditions in the municipality and minimise the risk of disease outbreaks.
The Bono East Regional Environmental Health Officer, Mr Lamptey Gyan, also emphasised the importance of maintaining clean surroundings and supporting initiatives that promote environmental sanitation and public health.
