Three out of six suspects who escaped from police custody at the Adabraka Police Station in Accra have been rearrested by the police.
The remaining three are still at large, with police launching a manhunt to track them down.
Meanwhile, the police have dismissed reports linking the escapees to the murder case involving Sammy Gyamfi’s father-in-law.
According to the police, the murder suspects were not being held at the Adabraka Police Station and therefore have no connection to the escape incident.
“The Command has initiated a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape. It has intensified a manhunt to arrest the remaining three escapees and ensure they are brought to justice,” a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Public Relations Officer of the Greater Accra Regional Command, said.
The police have urged the public to report any credible information on the whereabouts of the remaining fugitives to the nearest police station.
Murder suspects
In a separate statement, the Western Central Regional Police Command clarified that the suspects in the murder case involving Sammy Gyamfi’s father-in-law, Andrew Amankwah, at Ohwim in Kumasi, remain in lawful custody.
They have been remanded and are scheduled to reappear in court on May 7, 2026.
The accused persons are Kojo Amponsah alias Kamakazie, Emmanuel Appiah alias Taller, and Tanko Bashiru alias TK.
