Some students of Lawra Senior High School (SHS) are reported to have drowned in the Dikpe River early this morning, June 14, 2025, after they attempted to cross the river.
According to sources, there were about 10 students in a boat crossing, and only three of them survived.
Reports further indicate that three of the students were found dead.

There is currently a busy search for the remaining four dead bodies.
When the group reached the riverbank, they reportedly saw a man crossing the river in a canoe and decided to join him to experience the ride. However, the canoe capsized soon after setting off.
The Police and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
Lawra SHS, reports indicate, is in a state of shock and mourning following the unfortunate incident.
