The disgruntled staff of the Volta River Authority and Northern Electricity Distribution Company (VRA/NEDCo) have suspended the partial withdrawal of their services across its five operational zones.

The group announced the few weeks ago industrial action to demand the dismissal of the Managing Director of NEDCo, Mr. Osmani Aludiba Ayuba.

The actions of the staff followed a petition they presented to the Board of Directors of the electricity distribution company demanding the Managing Director to either voluntarily leave office or be sacked for failing to improve upon the financial situation of the company.

They also alleged the company has consistently lost significant revenue because of the non-performance of Mr. Aludiba Ayuba since he took over the company as the Managing Director.

The brawl caused the Minister of Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh to hold a meeting with the staff in Accra where he charged them to address the impasse with a great deal of impartiality devoid emotional sentiments.

The Minister gave an assurance of his commitment to address the prevailing fracas and all other intra and inter-institutional disagreement to ensure efficiency and effective management of the sector.

Meanwhile, giving the latest update about the partial withdrawal of their service to the people, leadership of the NEDCo Staff Groups said the National Labour Commission has summoned them to appear in Accra on February 20, 2023.

Consequently, the commission has directed the group to stay all ongoing industrial action and or any intended action and appear as scheduled.
