Two persons are in the police grips in the West Mamprusi municipality (Walewale) in the North East Region for allegedly stealing pistol and ammunition belonging to an Immigration officer.
The suspects identified as Mohammed Basit, age 18 years and Baba Rasid, age 22, reportedly entered the room of the Immigration officer at about 12:00pm on Saturday, May 17, 2025, while he was away and stole the officer’s Smith and Wessonssen Pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition as well as his two CZ rifle magazines loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition each.
The Ghana Police Service in a statement signed by DSP Robert Anabiik Anmain, the Public Relations Unit in the North East Region said through intelligence, the suspects were arrested at Kperiga, a suburb of Walewale, where they had gone to hid the pistol and ammunition in a stationary vehicle.
He added that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will be put before court.
