Hajia Safia Mohammed, Savannah Region NPP women's organiser mobilising votes for NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Savannah Regional Women’s Organiser has slammed the National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress for beating war drums in the region and instigating the youth to resort to violence.

Hajia Safia Mohammed said the utterances made by the former Northern Regional Chairman of the opposition party was unfortunate in his attempt to announce his presence in the Savannah region.

Chief Sofo Azorka is alleged to have instructed members of the NDC to unleash mayhem and deal ruthlessly with members of the governing NPP when they see any NPP supporter in any community collating data from the inhabitants.

The founder of the famous NDC Vigilante group Azorka Boys in Tamale is quoted to have said, “If you see anybody in your community holding this book (showing a book to the gathering) going round writing our people’s names, masa don’t let him go free, finish him.”

But responding to this in an interview with THE CUSTODIAN, Hajia Safia said this was not necessary, stating that, “it’s so sad and unfortunate that a national officer will come to the Savannah region and make such utterances. I believe he was just trying to create awareness or announce his presence on a very bad note”.

She added the Savannah region as a baby region needs all hands on deck for rapid growth and development and not people who will come destabilize it, indicating further that, “we want peace to vote for the NPP to continue its developmental projects in the Savannah region and create jobs for the youth and don’t come to destroy our baby region”.

She has implored the people to disregard the unguided utterances of the NDC Vice Chairman, saying Ghanaians can now differentiate between a peaceful party and troublemakers.

According to her, any party that perpetuates violence must be chased back into the bush.
“With war we cannot go far and we, the people of Savannah region we don’t want war but he wants war and therefore he should be chased into the jungle, bring back the NPP to develop the region to attract investors to invest our baby region”

“Chairman Sofo Azorka has demonstrated that the NDC is a violent political party and in Ghana we don’t want violence,” emphasizing that, “we have seen how war has destroyed other countries where they even had the opportunity to run to Ghana to seek asylum but, tell me, God forbid, if there is storm or war in Ghana, we would we run to? She queried”.
