Mr. Freddie Blay, former NPP National Chairman

The outgoing National Chairman of the governing New Patriotic (NPP), Mr Freddie Blay, has appealed to all the winners and losers in the national executive positions race to work together towards the next general election.

He emphasised that members of the NPP have a “great task ahead” by ensuring that the party retained power in the 2024 polls.

“We should all continue to remain united and focus on the great task ahead irrespective of our differences”, he reiterated.

Mr Blay gave the advice when he addressed party faithful at the NPP’s National Delegates Congress held at the Accra Sports Stadium over the weekend.

“I encourage you all to utilise the tools of negotiation and consensus building to unite the Party. We should make the needed sacrifices and compromises”, Mr. Blay further urged the contestants.

More than 6,000 delegates gathered at the Stadium and elected national officers to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The congress was on theme: “Holding together, working together”.

Mr Blay said he and his team worked hard to unify and strengthen the party in spite of the challenges encountered.

“The NPP is as much in a better shape than what our team inherited”, he pointed out, adding that that, “through team work and patience, we will stay together and united”.

The National Elections Committee cleared 46 aspirants to contest various positions including National Chairman, three Vice Chairpersons, General Secretary, Organiser, Youth Organiser, Treasurer, Women’s Organiser, and Nasara Coordinator.
