The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in partnership with Afarinick Company Limited held a successful orientation for thousands of youth under the ‘Farm Hands’ (cocoa programme) at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi.
Over 4,000 youth will be benefiting from the programme that is going to pay them at least GHS1,200 each per month.
They will also be given free lunch and accommodation in the various Cocoa communities they will be operating from throughout the country.
The responsibilities of the beneficiaries under this valuable partnership with the private sector include clearing and preparing lands in Cocoa growing areas.
This is a long-term opportunity as the country seeks to give a major boost to the Cocoa sector to attract more revenue.
The Chief Executive of YEA, Kofi Baah Agyepong, for his part said he remains committed to creating jobs for the youth in line with President Nana Akufo-Addo’s vision for the youth.
