Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu has mocked the opposition National Democratic Congress’ penchant for stealing ideas from NPP’s manifesto.

The opposition NDC launched its 2020 manifesto on Monday, and the governing NPP has accused them of stealing many ideas from their 2020 manifesto including the granting of tertiary loans without guarantors, establishing senior high schools in zongo communities, building sports and recreation centers in the regions, among many others.

Speaking at Bulinga, in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region on Tuesday, Dr. Bawumia said the NDC have an unenviable track record of stealing ideas from the NPP.

He recalled that in 2008, Nana Akufo-Addo promised to establish the Northern Development Authority, but the NDC stole the idea and christened it the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA).

“They copied our idea and changed it to SADA thinking it was all about flying guinea fowls to Burkina Faso,” Dr. Bawumia said to wild cheers from the people.

Dr. Bawumia further said the NDC can go ahead and copy all the ideas of the NPP, but one thing they can never copy is performance.

“You can copy our ideas but you can’t copy our performance,” he said.

“In terms of performance, the record is very clear. A record of good economic management versus incompetence. You cannot copy our performance.”

Mahama has zero credibility on Free SHS

Touching on President Akufo-Addo’s vision for education, Dr Mahamadu Bawumi questioned credibility of former President Mahama as far as the government’s flagship education programme, Free SHS is concerned.

With former President Mahama and the NDC previously against the implementation of the policy, and now promising to review it, Dr. Bawumia said the future of Free SHS is safer in the hands of the man who dreamt about it and implemented it against all odds, including opposition from the Mahama and the NDC.

“Mahama didn’t believe in Free SHS. He said if he had 2 billion cedis, he would not invest it in Free SHS. He didn’t believe in it and now he says he will  review it.’

“Mahama has zero credibility when it comes to Free SHS.” Dr. Bawumia stressed.

The Vice President urged the constituents to rally behind President Akufo-Addo and give him four more years to continue with his vision off inclusive development which has ensured a lot of development projects for the constituents in his first term
