4 More For Nana & OB Amoah

The Member of Parliament for Akuapem South in the Eastern Region, Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah has submitted his nomination form to contest in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on April 25, 2020.

He was accompanied by enthusiastic NPP delegates and supporters to submit the form on Saturday to win the parliamentary primaries and campaign on the message of “4 More for Nana, 4 More for OB”, to do more.

Almost 400 out of nearly 500 delegates turned out for the endorsement of Mr O.B Amoah’s nomination.

It was unprecedented in the history of Akuapem South and massive show of force for the formidable MP and Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, popularly known as OB.

Clad in Nana/OB T-shirt and a fitting OB cap, the delegates walked through the principal streets of Aburi to accompany the hardworking MP to submit his form to indicate his readiness to contest the primaries and lead the NPP to a resounding victory in 2020.

According to the delegates, OB is the best choice for the Akuapem South seat given his service and exceptional leadership in the 8 years of opposition and his first term in government as MP.

“He’s indeed a national asset to the NPP playing critical roles as member of the national elections committee, research committee, IPAC, communications team, media advisory group and the strategic group in Parliament,” one of the delegates told THE CUSTODIAN.

The three persons who have picked forms are yet to submit them but they must be wondering how a huge majority will openly pour out to endorse the able, popular and leading member of the NPP way ahead of the April 25 contest.

The Akuapem South MP has been representing his constituents in Parliament since 2009.

He started as the MP for Aburi-Nsawam until the constituency was split into Akuapem South and Nsawam-Adoagyiri in 2012.

His appearance in the political scene has brought a significant level of development to the Akuapem area and growing support for the NPP.

Addressing party faithful after picking the nomination forms, Mr O. B. Amoah appealed to NPP executives to launch a campaign to ensure people come out in their numbers to register when the new voter registration exercise starts on April 18, 2020.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has set April 18 to May 30, 2020 as the period for the compilation of a new voters’ register for the 2020 general election and beyond.

Getting both old and new members to register, Mr O. B Amoah pointed out, is very significant because ability to cast a vote in December for the President and the parliamentary candidate is the real support the party requires.

According to him, anybody who campaigns for President Nana Akufo-Addo but has not registered to vote has essentially not supported the victory of the party because the vote is what is needed.

This, he said, should be the duty of the executives and all true party followers until the proper campaign kicks in.

He noted that the campaign for President Akufo-Addo to be given four more years is very essential to the victory of the parliamentary elections and the NPP.

“2020 is an election year and a year of action and so the proper campaign is what we should start.

“I urge you the executive to start the campaign already and the necessary support that you require, we will offer it and continue to support until December 7th, 2020.

“So that on the day when the Electoral Commission (EC) confirms the four years for Nana, they will also confirm four years for O.B,” he added.

The Akuapem South MP also urged the party executives and all supporters to be receptive to new comers who wish to join the party campaign.

He promised that every zone will be provided with a vehicle when the campaign begins and stressed those who wish for motorbikes will get them.

Mr O. B Amoah said the Akuapem South constituency NPP is ready to demonstrate they are ready to do the work needed to retain the party in power.

“We have gone beyond promises and in the three years the NPP government has been in power, President Akufo-Addo has performed and Ghanaians are witnesses to it.

“Is it Free Education, Planting for Food and Job, NABCO or One-District-One-Factory?  We have done all,” he stated, adding that “The same when you visit Akuapem South, we will show you projects to projects to projects.”

According to him, he has met the executives of various electoral areas who have all expressed their concerns and their needs, promising government will ensure their challenges are addressed before the December elections.

The party, he said, will not wait for December 2020 to work but will provide more projects and sink more boreholes to provide the basis for the 2020 election campaign.
