The Ashanti Region will take its turn in the ongoing mass spraying exercise of  markets under the nationwide Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Disinfection Programme (COVID-19 @1).

The exercise will be conducted in all the 43 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region on Friday 27th March 2020.The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, in a release to officially announce the spraying exercise, urged cooperation from traders and the public.

The exercise is part of government’s effort to manage the spread of the deadly Coronavirus in the region.A team of sprayers, the Minister said, will be conducting the exercise during which all the markets will be locked-down to prevent obstructions and interference.

He said, “I take this opportunity to passionately appeal to all traders in the market to co-operate and comply with the ban on activities in the markets during the exercise.”H

e assured the region that the chemicals to be used for the spraying exercise are not harmful and therefore no cause for fear of negative effects.“For emphasis, the general public must note that markets will not operate on Friday 27th March 2020 in the Ashanti Region,” he warned.
