The Municipal Chief Executive of Sissala East, Hon. Karim Nanyua, has disclosed that seven new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the Municipality.

He made the disclosure at an emergency meeting with the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Committee.

The cases, he said, were confirmed through routine surveillance and enhanced testing and contact tracing.

All the confirmed cases are natives of the Municipality who travelled from Accra, Kumasi and Tamale.

Out of this number, four are at a quarantine centre, while the three are being pursued in order to be brought under quarantine.

The MCE entreated residents to remain calm, vigilant and supportive to these patients whilst also complying with all the safety protocols and presidential directives.

He advised the communities to report all strangers and natives travelling back to their communities from other areas to the health authorities for proper screening.

All the seven victims, made of 2 females and 5 males, were asymptomatic.

Members of the committee are still engaging to see how they can bolster the fight against the deadly virus.
