Mr Kwame Ofori-Gyau, NPP parliamentary aspirant for Akuapem South

A man battling with allegations of falsifying his age, Mr Kwame Ofori-Gyau, is pursuing a perilous course of attacking the Akufo-Addo administration in a desperate attempt to unseat the incumbent Member of Parliament for Akuapem South.

Ofori-Gyau who is contesting in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries on June 20, 2020 with the sitting MP, Hon. O. B. Amoah and one other aspirant, Eric Samuel Annor, has decided to attack government and the incumbent lawmaker, claiming he has the magic wand to bring development to the constituency.

Speaking in various radio interviews in Accra and campaigns across the Constituency, he and his team have ferociously criticised the NPP Government for not constructing roads and connecting electricity to some communities in the area.

This negative strategy of claiming to be the messiah of the Akuapem South Constituency, according to information gathered by THE CUSTODIAN, is providing ammunition to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to attack the Akufo-Addo government.

The paper has also gleaned that the disparaging effusions of Mr Ofori-Gyau have received very negative comments and condemnation from the electorate in the NPP stronghold.

More information gathered, indicate that the aspirant deliberately refers to the outstanding major works and claims the electorate will vote against the NPP because the Government has neglected or refused to carry out the projects in the Constituency.

The Gyau team in their desperation, THE CUSTODIAN further learnt, refer to the Dome-Brekusu-Kitase road and the Aburi-Adamrobe- Oyibi link projects and claim the Government has refused to tackle them because of Hon. O. B. Amoah.

Mr Ofori-Gyau and his campaign team also refer to seven communities in the Constituency yet to be connected to the national grid as part of the government’s failure.

Regrettably, what they mischievously refuse to admit are the far reaching efforts President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration has made in addressing the issues.

In their bid to make the Government and the MP unpopular, they have not bothered to tell the electorate that the said Dome-Brekusu-Kitase road is to be constructed with the $23.8m Kuwaiti fund signed in September for which procurement is in progress.

An NPP delegate in the constituency who will be casting a secret ballot in the party’s parliamentary primaries has told THE CUSTODIAN that the Ofori-Gyau team has refused to tell the truth about all the ongoing projects in the constituency.

“The Gyau team refuses to tell the electorate that the Aburi-Adamrobe-Oyibi road has been awarded while the communities without electricity will be connected in the next few months.

“It is obvious that such campaigns which damage the efforts the government is making in addressing critical issues in various constituencies are carried out for parochial interests by desperate aspirants who are not interested in December 2020 Elections,” the delegate noted.
