The Mayor of Tamale, Musah Iddrisu aka Superior has labeled the National Democratic Congress lawmaker for the Tamale South Constituency and minority leader of Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu as a total disaster for his constituents. He argues that the minority leader lacks the energy needed to mobilise the people to chart the path of development and growth.
He however posited that the Tamale South Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Yakubu Yussif is a man with wisdom who has the tenacity to lead the constituents to do good things in the next Akufo-Addo-led NPP government.
The Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive said this to the media after the inauguration of the Tamale South NPP constituency campaign team and various committees last Sunday. He said the NPP government has delivered massively and therefore charged supporters of the party to campaign based on their records so that they massively vote for Mr. Yakubu Yussif and President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Hon Musah Iddrisu further urged the Tamale South constituents to vote the NPP MP hopeful so that they can have a powerful representation in parliament to begin a new era of development, saying categorically that the next government will still be an NPP and therefore the people must not continue to languish in the hands of an MP who says “Mma na ka duu” to wit my party is in opposition.
According to the Tamale Mayor, “this kind of excuse that my party is not in power”, is not very good for the growth and undermines the pace of development in the area.
When asked what will be brought to the fore when Yakubu Yussif is elected as MP, the outspoken Mayor said knowledge, jobs, wisdom and tenacity will be brought to the forefront in order to reenergize the youth and locate problems across the constituency and solve them.
“You remember I made a case earlier that this constituency is too huge, he is not a selfish person I am sure that he (Yussif) will continue to make such an appeal because the area is very troubling constituency and that is why the availability of the current MP is not visible so we are calling on the people of Tamale South to come out in their numbers and support the NPP”
NPP pro-poor policies
The Tamale Chief Executive said the opposition NDC can continue to ridicule the free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs programmes among others initiated by the Akufo Addo government but the impact of these pro-poor policy interventions on Ghanaians cannot be rubbished.
He said these are high profile, very important and crucial ideas that will grow the country. Mr. Iddrisu said there is no policy in the beginning that wouldn’t suffer setbacks alluding to the UK National Health Service which he indicated struggled over 100 years ago when it started but today it is one of the best health service institutions in the world.
