The Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said Ghana will maintain its reputation as the most peaceful country in the West Africa sub-region after today’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections across the country. He said Ghanaians will exercise their democratic franchise without an issue of disruptions.
Dr Bawumia voting the Kpiriga D/A Primary School polling station in the Walewale constituency in the North East, encouraged Ghanaians to come out and vote without any disruptions as it is their civic right regardless of their political party affiliations.
According to the Vice President, the election is the biggest constitutional responsibility for every Ghanaian, adding “As you can see I came here, I went through all the COVID-19 protocols and it has gone very smoothly. I have cast my vote and everybody should be patient and carry out this most important constitutional duty.”
“We want to vote very peacefully; this is the most peacefully country in West Africa and at the end of this elections we want to maintain that reputation as the most peacefully country in West Africa. We want to exercise this franchise in peace and there should be no issues of disruptions whatsoever” he noted.
“So we want wish the electoral commission well, we want Ghanaians well and we should make our nation proud and lets come out and vote regardless of your political party and do it peacefully, and then when you’re done you go home and at the end of the day the votes will be counted and the winners will be declared and we proceed with our democratic processes” D” Bawumia added.
Meanwhile, about 289, 535 are expected to cast their ballots in the North East Region.
