The Gushegu Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli, has handed over a newly constructed Nurses Quarters to the Bogu CHPS Compound. The facility will house the resident nurse posted to the community to provide the needed medical care to the inhabitants at all material moments.

The Deputy Transport Minister in his remarks stated the accommodation facility now in place will enable the resident nurse and other health workers to permanently station in the community to provide healthcare services at all times.

“So, as we speak there is a resident nurse who is here 24/7 catering for the needs of our mothers, wives and sisters and that for me I believe it’s one single intervention that has saved a lot of lives, maternal mortality that we have been recording for the past couple of years.

“The other medical officers would also have a place to lay their heads here in Bogu and don’t have to necessarily go to Gushegu and so all of them are housed here” he added.

The Gushegu MP further underscored the importance of health infrastructure in the provision of quality healthcare acknowledging there has been a deficit of infrastructure in the health sector of the Gushegu municipality.

“Earlier, we did the sod-cutting of the surgical and maternity ward at the Gushegu municipal hospital. The hospital was constructed way back in 2008 and since then no single facility has been added to it and that also became a major challenge for the people” the legislator emphasized.

Lawyer Tampuli noted the Gushegu surgical and maternity block is expected to be completed in six months to improve medical care and reduce maternal mortality in the municipality and its surrounding communities.

One of the Community Health Nurses at the facility, Alhassan Fuseini Ibrahim, highlighted the significance of the nurse’s quarters in the delivery of quality healthcare in the Bogu traditional zone.

“Before the construction of the building we were forced to pair with our colleagues which was hindering our services, now that this project has been put in place, everybody will have his privacy. I think most staff will also join us because last week our director promised us there is two more staff who are coming and once they are in, I think the work will move smoothly” he stated.

THE CUSTODIAN has gathered the Bogu CHPS Compound caters for about 24 communities with five outrage points created in order to provide healthcare services to everybody in the zone.

The Community Health Nurse said in most instance, they use their personal motorbikes to embark on the routine outrage programs in order to attend to their patients.

Mr. Ibrahim however seized the opportunity to appeal to the government and benevolent organizations to provide them with means of transport.

The Chief of Bogu, Naa Salifu Andani Baba commended the Gushegu MP for his hard work and continuous support to bring healthcare close to the doorsteps of this subjects.

“Since I was enskinned as Chief of Bogu, you have constructed a Mosque for the community, connected a number of communities under my traditional area and today you’re to commission nurses’ quarters; this is fulfilling and we have to express our gratitude to you” Naa Salifu posited.
