President Akufo-Addo and wife Rebecca, and other NPP members giving thanks to God after 2016 polls

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to hold an interdenominational national Christian thanksgiving service on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

A statement yesterday issued by the party’s General Secretary, Mr John Boadu, said the service aims at giving glory to God for a peaceful 2020 general election, which saw the re-election of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for second term in office.

The programme on the theme, “Ebenezer, thus far the Lord has helped us. For the battle is the Lord’s” (1 Samuel 7:12, 1 Samuel 17:47).

“The Lord has been so good to our dear country. We, therefore, need to rejoice in His name, and thank Him for his indenting grace and blessings”, the statement noted.

Out of the 13,119,460 total valid votes cast in the presidential poll, President Akufo-Addo polled 6,730,587 votes, representing 51.30 per cent.

His closest contender, former President John Mahama of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), polled 6,213,182 representing 47.36 per cent.

The Service will be held under the theme, “Ebenezer, Thus Far the Lord Has Helped Us”
